Bloc Party - Talons

by Alexander Segall Rating: Release Date:

'Talons' bursts out of the traps with a rush of bubbling electronic noise, then a slidy kind of guitar riff segues into xylophones over a big, big, beat (here we go again). Kele sings, which as I've said before, isn't really his strong point: when he yelps I can actually hear what he's going on about, but here, once again, he's drowned out by effects and treatments.

According to the fanclub email/press release thingy, this was one of the best songs they made in the Intimacy sessions, but didn't make it onto the album. Couple of questions then: one, why didn't it make it onto an album of far more mediocre songs? Two, if this is something to enthuse about, then BP are seriously going down the pan.
