Crystal - Jungli-la
- by Rich Morris Release Date:2015-10-21 Label:

This debut single from Tokyo synth-pop group Crystal owes, as their name might suggest, a debt to New Order, as well as Yellow Magic Orchestra, and every proponent of blocky, fizz-pop tunes from the mid-to-late 80s, including Paul Hardcastle, Art of Noise, and Stock Aitken Waterman.
‘Jungli-la‘, release on Flau, is apparently a tribute to Nintendo game Donkey Kong, and is joyously, knowingly naff, all cos-Eastern melodies tropical percussion, and thus hard not to love. In fact, it’s easy to imagine it soundtracking some wobbly 80s anime, which for some people of a certain age will be an immediate reason to love it.
