Suzi Chunk and Groovy Uncle - Barefoot In The Car Park/Wet Weekend

by Jeff Penczak Rating:7 Release Date:2014-07-21

Things have been heating up for Chunk ‘n Unc of late, with the accolades pouring in for previous releases from the Welsh spitfire and Medway’s Glenn Prangnell and his revolving band of Merry Prang-sters. This double a-side is a teaser for the forthcoming Persuaded album and is a right corker, indeed. Suzi’s soulful belting and Unc’s groovy backing will have dancefloors all across the Northern Soul club circuit throbbing to this beach blanket blaster.

Prangnell’s pleading ballad over on the flipside recalls Moz's 'Everyday is Like Sunday' and is perfect for a ruminating stroll through a rainy town, with a tearful melodica solo (!) adding to the pathos. The soothing harmonies relieve the tension (somewhat), but this is definitely one to put on after you’ve had a fight with your partner and need some time to cool your jets.

Limited to 500 copies on thick (70g) 7in vinyl, grab this one before it disappears.
