Spector - What You Wanted

by Emily Bielby Rating:7.5 Release Date:2011-09-19

So far, Spector failed to let us down and this track is no exception. 'What You Wanted' picks up where 'Never Fade Away' left off and since then we've been big fans of the quintet from London. Overall, it's a well crafted, experimental pop track with an indie twist to it. Although not as catchy as their first single, it still manages to maintain romantic nostalgia and that all important 80s sound. Frontman Fred Macpherson delivers passionate vocals while the backing vocals are pretty infectious. The bridge comes as something of a surprise. You'll either love it or loathe it; personally I consider it an anthemic turn, making their sound even more unique.

Just two songs in to their career, Spector are already dubbed one of the hottest bands around, which proves one thing: they know what they're doing and they're doing it right.
