The Good Suns - Shadow/At Last I'm Bored

by Alex Yau Rating:4 Release Date:2011-02-14

The Good Suns, London's latest nostalgic answer to The Last Shadow Puppets and The Coral, step out of their TARDIS with bowl cuts, matching suits and stripped down music to match. 'Shadow' is a charming piece of classic swagger indebted to the likes of The Beatles through its vocal harmonies and simple guitar chord construction. It's not bad but it's not great either. You've heard it all before and the chorus is even 'more' inventive with constant repeats of, "I'm a Shadow". By the time 'At Last I'm Bored' arrives, you do feel a dull sense of boredom as the 1960s limbo traps you. It's like Prison Break, by the time you've heard it, you want to escape the prison that this music has created for you. They aren't The Good Suns, They are The Beatles.
