Trash Kit - Teenagers/How Do You Do

by Rich Morris Rating:7 Release Date:2010-11-01

Following up the group's splendid debut earlier this year, this double-a is cut from the same grubby cloth of jagged guitars, tribal drums and mud goddess chants. This, of course, means both tracks are pretty damn brilliant. 'Teenagers' is the more startling of the two, starting off with a fairly standard but likable hi-life riff before the melody drops out mid-way through to be replaced by pounding atavistic drums, Native American style war cries and atonal recorder sheiks. Like the best tracks on Trash Kit's debut, it gives you the feeling of peeking into some secret, primitive world hidden amongst the urban sprawl of our own. 'How Do You Do' is more conventional, as far as a Trash Kit record goes, but it's still a lot of fun and should make an ideal WTF moment for any decent indie night. The fact this single's physical release is limited to 500 copies on translucent orange vinyl just means it'll still be cool as fuck when you dig it out and spin it in years to come.
