Toro Y Moi - Leave Everywhere

by Louise Harlow Rating:8.5 Release Date:2010-07-19

Get steady and hold onto your ham sandwiches- Toro Y Moi is taking us back to the future forward to the past. In every way. Not only is his follow-up to January's debut LP Causers of This comprised of two tracks recorded back in 2008, but they both fuzz like Spector rethinking the wall of sound after a couple of (extra) diazepams .

The majestically monikered Chazwick Bundick has dished up a curveball here, just as we were happily filing him under C for chillwave alongside fellow southern boy Washed Out. Not a sample or synthesiser in sight, as sun-glistened guitars play tag with shimmery xylophones below Bundick's dual harmony wails. 'Leave Everywhere' trips you back to seamless, hazy summer days, shares it's ice cream with you and then drives you home with all the windows rolled down. Dreamboat.
