Eddy Current Suppression Ring - Anxiety

by Rich Morris Rating:6 Release Date:2010-03-29

Hailing from Melbourne, ECSR have released two albums of twitchy, freaky punk to some critical acclaim. 'Anxiety' is taken form their soon come third album and it twitches and freaks with the best of 'em. There're echoes of early Fall in the bare bones guitar rhythm, and of Pixies in vocalist Brendan's reedy holler in the verses. But, unlike those bands, there's no extra element - no Krautrock experimentation or voodoo spookiness - to lift this beyond ultimately being just a very good but by-the-numbers punk stomp-along.
