Sebastien Tellier - Fingers of Steel/ L\'Amour et la Violence

by Rich Morris Rating:7 Release Date:2009-12-14

One of the less poppy tracks on Tellier's acclaimed Sexuality album, 'Fingers of Steel' is a down-tempo ride through a nocturnal cityscape, at once chilly and sexy, like the Kraftwerk robots hitting the amyl nitrate. 'L'Amour et La Violence', by contrast, starts as a weepy piano ballad and proves, slightly unnervingly, that if he wanted too, Tellier could quite comfortably be the Gallic Chris Martin. Thankfully, it's soon warped by layers of soupy electronica, leaving Tellier's iconoclast status nicely intact.
