King TV - Play on Forever

by Jim Cunnar Rating:9 Release Date:2014-12-01

A wise man once said: "The key to a great song is to sound different and similar at the same time." I'd say the key to a great band is to sound different and similar at the same time, and build off the different.

King TV has created that exact sound. This four song EP is a gem of a start for these lads from south London. Channeling the crunchy guitars of early 90s Dinosaur Jr. and Weezer, but layering in the modern garage-rock sounds of The View and The Vaccines, King TV climbs into your head, fitting into that place that is just comfortable enough, yet unique enough to make you sit up and take notice.

'Scumbag' is the strongest of the collection, a radio-ready single teeming with teenage angst and catchy hooks, three-plus minutes of sonic pleasure that immediately makes you pine for more.

Go get 'em boys... You're on to something special.
