Dilly Dally - fkkt EP

by Jim Harris Rating:10 Release Date:2016-10-07

Dilly Dally’s first album released last year, Sore, was impressive.  Post punk, goth, spacey quirky-fun lyrics about love and sex, and that scary beautifully different scratchy scream of the lead singer, Katie Monks, separate this Toronto-based band from the others.

And while I’m not really a fan of remix ep’s, it caught me when I saw Odonis Odonis would be remixing one of the stronger songs on the album, ‘Desire.’   And I was hoping there wouldn’t be five or more remixes of the same song.  And there isn’t.  Add all that up and this is a fairly awesome remix ep.

fkkt only has one repeating mix and that is ‘Desire’ but they are nicely independent versions. Odonis Odonis bring a strong industrial take on the track and CRIM3S actually create an ambient, techno remix that is just as strong.  All five tracks do the band justice and who can get enough of that voice?

If you are a fan and you should be, fkkt is a nice bridge before a new Dilly Dally album is released.
