Los Angeles-based Wand release Plum, their new album and second for Drag City, on September 22nd. After sharing the title track, the band now presents the video for new single “Bee Karma,” and all its ascendant riffs, view below.

Wand’s Cory Hanson comments: “The video stars my brother Casey as the clown that I drive around.  Abby Banks shot all the footage of him in the car, then I shot all the double exposure dancing parts on a high school assembly stage. It’s an age old story.  In the end, the good clown wins and gets to be free. He dances.”

Plum focuses teeming, dense, at times wildly multichromatic sounds into the band’s most deliberate statement to date, with a long evening’s shadow of loss and longing hovering above the proceedings. Since the release of 1000 Days, Wand became a five piece — Cory Hanson (guitar, vocals), Lee Landey (bass) and Evan Burrows (drums), Robbie Cody (guitar) and Sofia Arreguin (keyboards, vocals) — which naturally led to a shift in working method. This new process demanded more honest communication, more vulnerability, better boundaries, more mercy and persistence during a year that meanwhile delivered a heaping serving of romantic, familial and political heartbreak for everyone involved.

Wand embark on a headline tour the weekend of Plum’s release. They’ll play their biggest rooms throughout North America yet.
