The Libertines: Doing it for the cash

The Libertines seem set to reunite again – this time for money.

Following rumours of a live reunion, erstwhile Libertines co-frontman Carl Barât has told fans to keep July 5 free.

Talking to Gigslutz on Sunday, Barât said a gig was “very much a possibility”.

In a Hebrew-language interview conducted Israeli newspaper Ynet last week, Pete Doherty apparently revealed he was planning to bring the band together again to help resolve some financial issues. He said the band had been offered a gig in Hyde Park, London, and that he had agreed to it: "...They told me what they would pay us and, well, I can't lie to you: I couldn't say no, at least not in my situation."

Doherty also cited nostalgia as a reason for reforming.

The Libertines have not played live together since 2010 when they reunited for the Reading and Leeds Festivals.
