Kate Bush announces first live dates in 35 years

Legendary singer-songwriter Kate Bush will perform live on stage for the first time since 1979.

The iconic pop star, whose era-defining hits include ‘Wuthering Heights’, ‘Running Up That Hill’ and ‘Hounds of Love’, will play 15 shows at London's Hammersmith Apollo in August and September. Tickets go on sale 09:30 GMT Friday, March 28.

Her new live show, titled Before the Dawn, will begin on August 26. Her last live performance was in 1979 at the Hammersmith Odeon, now the Apollo – the venue she has chosen for her return to the live arena.

The venue already has legendary status among music fans – on July 3 1973, David Bowie played his last gig as Ziggy Stardust there, during which he caused commotion by announcing his ‘retirement’.

According to Sex Pistols documentary The Filth and the Fury, Steve Cook and his fellow Pistols posed as road crew members during Bowie’s gig and stole amplifiers and other equipment.

Making the announcement on her website, Kate Bush said she was "delighted" to return to performing, adding: "I hope you will be able to join us and I look forward to seeing you there."
