David Lynch set to release The Big Dream 12in remixes for Record Store Day

Following on from David Lynch’s The Big Dream, one of 2013’s most strikingly singular and idiosyncratic records, and the super deluxe reissue in January, David Lynch prepares a brand new double a-side remix EP 12in exclusively for Record Store Day 2014.

Sitting alongside the brand new remix of The Big Dream by Moby, featuring vocals by Mindy Jones, are the stunning remixes from the varied likes of Hot Since 82, Brit Award winners Bastille, and Bjorn Yttling of Peter Bjorn and John, who all produce stunning reworks of the originals and morphing them into something breathtakingly new.

Moby’s Reversion of The Big Dream is beautifully haunting and extraordinarily expansive, with Mindy Jones, a long time Moby collaborator, revocaling the track in a wistful, elegant approach, compulsively juxtaposing the original. In Bastille’s hands, the mournful “Are You Sure” becomes achingly soulful and moving, as the chart topping, Brit Award winners band flesh out the original with emotive, almost gospel-like backing vocals from Dan Bastille himself.  Similarly, Bjorn Yttling (of Peter, Bjorn and John) injects sweetness and warmth into the menacing chill of “We Rolled Together”, while Hot Since 82 reconfigures “Wishing Well” into a shimmering house epic.

This will be David Lynch’s first Record Store Day release of his musical career thus far and to celebrate, the record will be in clear, red vinyl – another first for Lynch. The 12in will come complete with an MP3 download code and is limited to 500 copies in the UK, with a further 500 worldwide.

REMIX EP 12in: Released exclusively for Record Store Day 2014 on April 19.
