I really dig the Jefferson Airplane vibe on some of the songs ("Proxy War"). Great review - I agree, this is an approachable album whose production allows the songs to breathe and develop. Production really can make or break a song (or album), can't it?

Well put, Mark. Meek opened for Waxahatchee here in Chicago, and was entrancing. Humble and reserved, yet engaged with the crowd, his unique style of guitar playing perfectly compliments his voice. it is a lovely listen!

Great review, just perfect. The beauty of the stripped down versions of these songs is Gordon's voice. I'd argue he sounds better now than ever. The Femmes are an American institution. I'd love to seem them inducted into the R&R HOF.

Blue Sunshine really is the definition of a "lost gem". I have an original pressing on CD, and it's one of my prized possessions! Thanks for the article.

Nice review Jim. Love Katy but was sorely disappointed with the RA produced Music... expected SO much more. Queens is back to the sweet spot for sure.

Agree or disagree, he has never, ever wavered off of his stance on vegetarianism. "Meat is Murder" was written over 30 years ago...
