I was dragged to countless ZZ Top concerts in my youth. The fuzzy twirling pink guitar period was the worst. They bored me silly in concert. Played the same damn song it sounded like over and over...
I always wondered what was in the rock and roll waters in 1971. Who's Next, Aqualung, Led Zep 4, TRex, Black Sabbath Master of Reality. I think even LA Woman came out then. What a seriously defining year in rock. I believe Sticky Fingers as well.
Ha. i should not have used the great Leonard as the primary comparison...Yes still listen to 10 Songs. His best perhaps? I'll still say his body of work I struggle with at times.

Yeah, I watched the video. Yikes. Years ago they did a great version of Roadhouse Blues though. Ha.

Great review, Rob. I struggle with modern synth-pop just as you articulated.

I have not actually. I will! I read your nice review of the Istanbul EP. I'm going to check them out as well.

Damn, that's a loss. And far too young. I was hoping for a reunion tour.

Great review, Rob. Newman's stuff continues to interest me after all these years.

Great review! I hadn't heard of Nadine until this one and it is impressive.

Excellent review, Kevin. I couldn't agree more. The Smiths had an apocalyptic duo in Morrissey and Marr and magic came from them all through the 80s.
