Coming back to the article after listening to the album to either eat crow or validate my original resp. I enjoy reading reviews that give albums I like low ratings because you can usually learn something new, challenge your interpretation, or reflect different on the album. However, this was crap.

like the brass instrumental around the same time as in Bowlly's original. Jim hums all the time, and it's understandable to not like it, but it reflects that you went as surface-level as possible when reviewing the album and took no consideration into the artists techniques, uniqueness, or "sound".

I've listened to the album quite a few times now and rereading your review makes it seem like you put no effort into it. Midnight, The Stars and You. Jim leads-in with nearly the same "pedestrian" piano as Bowlly's original version and the "cat warbling" seems like he is using vocalization to sound

No..."I fully expect the songs to sound different" literally means, "I fully expect the songs to sound different." I heard True Honey live and two of the recordings had been released.

This is you dumping on an album starting with your opening set-up rather than a review. In fact, you probably spent more time trying to come off humorously than listening to the album. I fully expect the songs to sound different considering some of them are over 50 yrs old. Spare us all next time MM
