The Best Post Rock Albums and EPs of the 21st Century

Post Rock was coined in the 1990s and was initially dominated by UK and North American acts, but by the turn of the century, the genre spread across the globe, going from strength to strength and evolving in sound and textures, to such a point that numerous dedicated festivals to Post Rock were set up and continue to this day in many countries of the world.

As with the 21st Century Psychedelia and Shoegaze/Dream Pop lists we've limited the entries to one per act, which gives further credence to how huge the genre has become over the past two decades. Click an album below to read a review

Let's hear it for New Zealand band Jakob!! Cale/Drew is such a great album. Thanks for recognising the band and including them

Thanks Warwick. I was fortunate to come across them when in New Zealand back in 2003/4 (thanks to their (sadly now defunct) C4 music channel) and saw them in Wellington too and they were phenomenal live.

Absolutely. I was lucky enough to open for the band when I was in a metal-progressive rock band back in 2004-7 down in Invercargill at the bottom of the South Island. Highly memorable gig!

ah fantastic.
The band I saw support them in Wellington was Looma, who were a bit more shoegazing but were still great, and the only other post/prog/metal band I was aware of at the time were Avotor who were pretty good too from memory.
