Essential John Cale

John Cale is one of the most underrated yet influential figures in 20th Century Rock. Oft overshadowed by his fellow Velvet Underground bandmate, Lou Reed, Cale has nevertheless cut a number of extraordinary solo albums. This isn't a complete list but perhaps his 10 best albums. Cale sums it best with: "Being a living legend is such a precarious livelihood. It's like being a bar of soap in a shower which doesn't have any water in it." Click an album below to read a review

Great list. I know it’s a minor offering in the grand schemes, but I love the live album “Circus” which I came upon one day and was a impulse buy

Circus is a bit hard to find these days over here. Which is why I left it off the list. But am glad you mentioned it! So maybe someone will track it down! Thanks!
