Edition of Contemporary Music (ECM) records are jazz albums filtered through a prism that includes the colors of both folk and chamber music. The label is known for its pristine vinyl and artful covers. The recordings are very European, yet this music stretches to incorporate and understand the sounds and cultures from all parts of the globe. It is world music, but it's also very wonderous jazz.

Each and every one of these albums is a gem! The variety is stunning and the musicianship is of the highest quality. The recordings are incredibly pristine and beautiful, monuments to technological and scientific knowledge put in service to the listener's desire to hear the music as if one was present at the recording. This year marks the 50th anniversary of ECM Records and I have been present for all of it! I consider these recordings as an important part of my life and I have a difficult time imagining what my life would be like without them. That's how much I love them! If you are unfamiliar with this record label, do yourself a favor and explore and then purchase a couple of them. You will not be disappointed!

The Marilyn Crispell, Keith Jarrett and Manu Katche are pretty special. Nice list
