If you ever heard Nirvana's live version of Where Did You Sleep Last Night, it was an ode to friend, Mark Lanegan's version. Despite a low key profile, Lanegan's voice is unmistakable. A gravelly worn leather, sure to appeal to fans of Tom Waits, Kurt Cobain and Nick Cave. All of which sells him short. Put simply, he's one of America's finest living singer- songwriters. His world is one of winding sheets, whiskey and holy ghosts. Mockingbirds and strange religions. His collaborations are countless and his solo albums are all top notch. Light In The Attic's comp, Has God Seen My Shadow is an excellent overview. Beyond that here's the best of Lanegan ranked, along with some key collaborations. Click an album below to read a review
