the end of Soundblab?

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Soundblab and I’m sad to say that I (Bob Coyne - Editor) intend to take a step back. This has been a very hard decision to make but it just feels like the right time, with it being the end of the decade as well.

Sadly, as I’m the only person involved in the day-to-day running of the site, I have no choice but to put the site on hold. We will post our last reviews in the first week of October and from then on the site will remain live indefinitely as an archive.

However...

A number of people have shown an interest in taking on some of the daily tasks to keep the site going. There is a lot of work involved but if enough people help out, it might just be possible to continue. Below are all daily tasks explained in detail, if you are interested in getting involved with Soundblab, read on. I'm offering shares in the company in return.

What is involved with the day-to-day running of the site and how long does it take?

Emails/Promos - This is the biggest task and it keeps the site ticking over. Each weekday I list about 6 albums on the promo page and distribute downloads to writers. I also have to chase up promos and keep a count of who is doing what each month and share press releases. (45 minutes each week day). To do this you have to be in control of the email inbox, while you don't have to reply to every email, you do have to skim through them. (2 hours per week). Total time for the week is 5 hours and 45 minutes.

Social sharing - Each review is shared to Twitter and Facebook and via email with the label/PR. Each list is shared with as many artists as possible, big lists are shared 10 times. So each day there can be anywhere from 6 to 12 shares. Each share takes about 5 minutes. (30 to 60 minutes each week day). Total time for the week is 2.5 to 5 hours.

Getting reviews live - Every review needs to be checked and proof read. There are usually 4 to 6 reviews each day. (30 minutes each week day). Total time for the week is 2.5 hours.

If you are able to spare just 1 hour each week and become part of a team, please get in touch here.
