I eat play dough
So... June. Was it good for you? It was certainly a healthy month for music. Looking back at the key releases, it's striking how many are mould-breakers, some subtle, some bold. Releases from Snorkel, Simian Mobile Disco and Disclosure mixed eclectic electronic genres; Peaking Lights' Lucifer refined their 80s-ballad-on-acid sound; and The Flaming Lips had warped, musically varied fun with their fwends. Meanwhile, the likes of Ty Segall, O. Children and Silver Jews mostly busied themselves with rocking like deranged motherfuckers. Just as wild sounds could be found on Can's The Lost Tapes, a bonza anthology or, if you will, Canthology (groan) of unreleased stuff from the legendary Krautrockers. Of course, if you just wanted some straight-up indie-rock sounds, the dependable likes of Paul Weller and Maximo Park were on hand to deliver that. Here's what Soundblab had to say: Snorkel - One Long Conundrum EP Paul Weller - 'When Your Garden's Overgrown' Simian Mobile Disco - Unpatterns |
