Festivals! We love 'em. And what's better than a festival? That's right - a festival in sunny Spain! Why's it so great? Because it's a festival and a holiday in one. That's why so many Brits are heading out there each year to avoid the rain and the mud of the likes of Reading and Glastonbury.
Benicassim Festival (or Festival Internacional de Benicàssim if you wanna be really hipster about it) is a four day musical bonanza taking place in Benicassim on the east coast of Spain between Valencia and Barcelona. This year, the fun and follics take place on the weekend of July 12 to 15.
Benicassim always boasts an impressive line-up but this year is definitely something special. Why? Well, for a start the reformed Stone Roses are flippin' headlining. Also confirmed are Florence and the Machine, The Vaccines, Noel Gallagher and New Order. That smell, by the way, is the little bit of wee Soundblab just did thinking about being there.
Of course, a great festival isn't just about the headliners, and Benicassim 2012 has got so much musical magic to offer: At the Drive-In, Bat for Lashes, De La Soul, Kurt Vile & the Violators, The Horrors, Bombay Bicycle Club, Django Django, Little Dragon, Miles Kane, The Maccabees, Buzzcocks, Crystal Castles, Dizzee Rascal, School of Seven Bells, Spector, Justice. And there's loads more besides. Check out http://benicassimfestival.co.uk/benicassim-line-up-2011/ for the full line-up. Plus, it's right next to the beach! Right. Next. To. The. Bloody. Beach.
There's also flight info on there. It's probably cheaper than you'd think. So go on. Treat yourself. We'll see you there.
